St Andrews College - Dublin
Private Mixed Religious 996 students

The school community numbers just over 1,300 students, teachers and support staff, drawn from Ireland and about 40 other countries. There is a decidedly international atmosphere in the school and, since 1984, we have been accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

St Andrew’s has an interesting history. It was founded in 1894 by members of the Presbyterian community in Dublin. Its full title, St Andrew’s College Dublin, reflects the desire of the founders to create a school which would serve and be respected by all the people of the city. To emphasise this aspiration, they included the three towers of Dublin in the College crest.

The school began life at a city-centre location, No. 21 St Stephen’s Green. In 1927 it moved to larger premises on Clyde Road where it remained until 1973 when, as a reinvigorated co-educational day and boarding school, it took possession of a fine new building in the suburb of Booterstown, with an inspiring view of Dublin Bay including, on a clear day, the impressive peninsula of Howth. In September of this year, we opened a magnificent new 3-storey facility to accommodate a number of our teaching departments, a declaration of our commitment to the future of Irish education.

A wide range of extra-curricular activities is available to students of the College. It is expected that students will give serious consideration to participation in one or more of these activities which are widely advertised on official school notice boards.

At St Andrew's College they offer a wide variety of support services to all of the students. These include: academic guidance, social/emotional support, classroom life skills, peer helper advising, college entrance asístanse, small-group instruction for limited-English speaking students to help them move successfully into the regular academic programme, and more… It is the only Irish school offering the International Baccalaureate today.
